As you cross the River Hodder near Hurst Green, Lancashire, look upstream. You will see an older, more derelict and small looking bridge (Cromwell’s Bridge). Not in use today but you can still walk over it. This bridge played a part in the Civil War of the 1600s in the build up to the decisive Battle of Preston.
